Dr. Hakim is a sought-out expert and educator in technology innovation and entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship financing, venture capital, and M&A in the tech industry. He is currently the Managing Director of Qatar Science and Technology Park. Dr. Hakim is an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University Qatar and has served as the head of CMUQ-AlFaisal Innovation Entrepreneurship Center. He is currently on the Council of the European Innovation Academy - a nonprofit educational institution recognized globally for excellence in tech entrepreneurship education. Dr. Hakim has about 20 years of experience as a high-tech entrepreneur and a corporate executive in the information technology industry. Between 1994 and 2012, Dr. Hakim lived in the Silicon Valley, founded five technology startup companies, and served in various management and leadership roles at large software companies such as Infor and Autodesk. He was involved in many M&A tech transactions on both sides and participated in taking one company public on the Nasdaq stock market. 

In addition to teaching, Dr. Hakim is a board member, advisor and a mentor to several tech startup companies and is an active angel investor, and he frequently writes blog posts on innovation and entrepreneurship. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer-Aided Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University (1993)  M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1990), and a BS in Civil Engineering from Damascus University (1987). Al Remithi is responsible for developing and implementing QSTP’s strategic Communication plans both for internal and external stakeholders. As the Communications Director, Khaled leads on all QSTP relations with the existing portfolio of member-companies and also the wider Qatari public.

With a BA in Business and Marketing from California State University, School of Business San Bernardino, Al Remithi enjoys a successful diverse portfolio leading the PR and Marketing teams of some of the biggest companies in Qatar. His latest industry event was the successful all-out organization of the 4-day 31st round of the International Association of Science Parks World Conference, Doha 2014.

Previously, he assumed the role of Head of Public Relations at Ooredoo (formerly Qtel), where he managed remarkably to bring the Qtel brand closer to its publics and increase stakeholders’ engagement. Al Remithi also worked as a Senior Gas Marketing Officer at Qatar Petroleum.

Haya’s career has been focused on enabling entrepreneurs to achieve their potential.

She is 2014 MIT Sloan MBA graduate with a B.A. in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado - Boulder. She’s currently the Innovation Director at the Qatar Science e& Technology Park (QSTP) where she focuses on creating an environment supportive of technology ventures. Haya is also an amateur athlete, angel investor and former co-Managing Director of the MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition.

Al-Said is responsible for providing strategic guidance and professional management in relation to all aspects of the capital development, infrastructure and operations of QSTP. He is leading the development and implementation of strategic projects such as the QSTP master plan and phase two expansion.

Al-Said holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering from Loyola Marymount University in California, USA. He also holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree from Qatar University and a Master of Science degree in Facilities Management from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, UK. Prior to joining QSTP, he worked at RasGas’ Engineering department where he was responsible for the development of the Distributed Control System (DCS). He has also worked at Qatar Foundation Information Technology where he played a key role in the IT infrastructure development.

Dr Danny RamadanTechnology Investment Advisor & Acting Strategic Research Director

Danny is responsible for managing the portfolio of applied technology development programs funded by QSTP. Additionally, he oversees the operation of the QSTP Incubator. In his role as Technology Investment Advisor, Danny manages the equity portfolio of the Park and advises the Managing Director on future transactions. Danny works to establish new engagements in which QSTP facilitates the local creation of new technologies. He has a Ph. D in Biochemistry from the University of Delaware and a BA in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Franklin & Marshall College.
