Cisco

Cisco is the worldwide leader in networking that transforms how people connect, communicate and collaborate; its hardware, software and service offerings are used to create Internet solutions that provide easy access to information anywhere, at anytime. Cisco's research and technology base at QSTP will work with Qatar Foundation on the launch of 'Project iQ', a global platform of business and collaboration applications such as blogs, wikis, TelePresence, social networking and unified messaging. Through utilising technology, the project will allow people from Qatar Foundation, Qatar and across the globe to collaborate on areas of research, education, health and youth employment.

ConocoPhillips

ConocoPhillips is an integrated petroleum company with interests around the world. It is establishing the Water Sustainability Centre at QSTP, which will examine ways of treating and using by-product water from oil production and refining operations, as well as other projects relating to industrial and municipal water sustainability. The center will be designated as ConocoPhillips' worldwide center for water technologies.

EADS

European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company is the largest aerospace and defence company in Europe and the second largest worldwide. The EADS Competence Centre of Qatar at QSTP will deliver training and certification programs for non-destructive testing technologies, and internationally accredited training courses in aircraft maintenance. It will also include R&D programs in cooperation with universities in Qatar.

ExxonMobil

ExxonMobil, the world's largest publicly traded international oil and gas company and a leader in liquefied natural gas technology, established ExxonMobil Research Qatar as an anchor tenant at the Qatar Science & Technology Park. ExxonMobil Research Qatar will conduct research in areas of common interest to the State of Qatar and ExxonMobil including environmental management research and LNG safety research that will be applicable to many of the country's industry leading projects. These will be increasingly important as Qatar continues to develop the world's largest integrated gas processing and liquefaction facilities.

Fuego Digital Media

Fuego Digital Media is a 'software on demand' company focused on building a Qatar-based enterprise to provide simple Web-based business applications in Arabic, English and French to the 5.3M small- and medium-size enterprises across the 22 countries of the MENA region. Fuego is QSTP's first recipient of a Proof of Concept Fund grant to adapt core software technology from Fuego's sister company in Canada to the requirements of MENA users.

Hydro

Hydro is an integrated aluminium and energy company, serving the global market with aluminium and aluminium products. The Hydro Technology Centre of Qatar at QSTP will establish R&D programs in close cooperation with local universities and industries for development of competence and technologies within operational health care, energy saving, environment and inter-cultural management.

iHorizons

iHorizons is a Qatari software company, with offices throughout the region, specializing in the development of e-business applications and software solutions. It is establishing a research and development subsidiary at QSTP that will engineer applications in new markets such as Arabic language technologies, wireless services, bioinformatics and corporate knowledge tools. iHorizons is also pursuing joint projects with the computer science department of Carnegie Mellon Qatar and various QSTP members.

Institut de Soudure

Institut de Soudure, the national French welding body, is one of the world's premier institutes of welding and non-destructive testing technologies. It was established in 1905 and has 800 scientists and engineers worldwide. The institute is establishing a regional technology centre at QSTP that will develop and commercialise new welding and NDT techniques, train inspectors, provide professional services to industry, and help develop accredited welding standards.

MEEZA

MEEZA, a Qatar Foundation joint venture, has established a base at QSTP to deliver a wide range of I.T. Services and Solutions to clients, from creating and managing I.T. infrastructure to providing full business and technology consulting. M-VAULT 1, MEEZA's Tier III Data Centre is located at a highly secure location within QSTP and delivers 99.98% availability, the highest levels of availability offered from any commercial Data Centre in Qatar. Microsoft

Qatar Petroleum

Qatar Robotic Surgery Centre

The Qatar Robotic Surgery Centre is a training, demonstration and technology-development facility for state-of-the-art medical robots. A QSTP initiative in collaboration with Imperial College London, the centre will comprise three Da Vinci-brand medical robots, a simulation operating theatre and a "tele-mentoring" suite. It will open in the second half of 2009.

Qatar University Wireless Innovation Center

The Qatar University Wireless Innovation Center at QSTP is dedicated to applied research, technology development, consulting services and education in wireless systems and applications. A key goal is to develop new wireless applications for specific Qatar industries such as oil and gas, healthcare, security, and transportation. QUWIC will be an enabling platform for wireless and telecom innovations in Qatar and the region. The center is run by Qatar University and will open in the first half of 2009.

Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce, which operates in the global markets for civil aerospace, defence aerospace, marine and energy, is supplying aero engines for Qatar Airways' fleet of A340 aircraft and industrial engines for the Dolphin Project, piping natural gas from Qatar to the United Arab Emirates. Rolls-Royce will design testing and maintenance facilities in QSTP for new marine and aeronautical applications for its highly successful series of Trent gas turbine engines.

Shell

As a leader in Gas to Liquids (GTL) technology, Shell has initiated a cutting-edge GTL R&D programme in Qatar. The programme builds upon Shell's extensive experience in the GTL field and focuses on catalyst testing, product development and GTL by-product research, including sulphur management. Shell is also executing technology programmes focusing on Khuff reservoirs as part of its global Carbonates Reservoir Centre of Expertise. It is also establishing a learning centre that delivers a variety of technology-related courses and the Intilaaqah Qatar Youth Enterprise program.

SMARD

SMARD (Scientific Medical Applied Research & Development) is Qatar's first biotechnology and medical research company. It is establishing a laboratory at QSTP that will initially focus on developing diagnostic tools and treatments for chronic diseases induced by disturbances of the immune system, including diabetes. SMARD is a subsidiary of German companies KMG AG and iSIMA.

Total

Total is the world's fourth-largest oil and gas company and a world-class chemicals manufacturer. The Total Research Centre - Qatar will undertake R&D activities in five areas: multiphase oil and gas production, carbonate reservoir modelling, acid gas management, polymer production, and air-quality management. Total will also provide training and technical assistance services from QSTP.

TRL

Transport Research Laboratory is an independent research and technology development organisation specialising in the transport and infrastructure sectors. Its centre at QSTP will develop innovative road transport processes and technologies to help realise Qatar's vision of economic growth. In the long term TRL aims to collaborate with Qatar's universities and other science-based transport and infrastructure companies to develop technologies through research and proof-of-concept studies.

Virgin Health Bank QSTP is a cord blood stem cell collection, processing and storage business which initially launched in the UK in early 2007. Its mission is to provide the highest quality service in making stem cells available for use in today's therapies for diseases like leukaemia and thalassaemia and also to ensure they're available to take advantage of developments in regenerative medicine in the future.
